McKenzie Break Exploration Update

Britannica Resources Corp. (BRR – TSX Venture) (The “Company”) is pleased to provide an update of the exploration progress at the Britannica/Northern Star Mining Corp Joint Ventured McKenzie Break Property. The McKenzie Break property consists of 10 contiguous claims comprising 366 hectares, located in Fiedmont and Courville townships, about 35 kilometres north of Val d'Or, Quebec.

During 2007, a total of 26 surface diamond drill holes (6,000 meters) were completed on the property.  The 2007 diamond drilling was aimed at expanding the “known resources” and also follows up on other gold intersections, close to the main gold-bearing structures. Many of these close-by gold intersections were never included into any of the historical resource estimates.

Previously unreleased gold intersections from the 2007 drilling campaign include the following results:

These results are principally centered on zone #4, which is dipping 15 degrees to the northeast.  The drilling was conducted to intersect the gold mineralized structure at 90 degrees, therefore the core lengths are fairly close to true width.

A detailed evaluation of the 2007 diamond drilling results was initiated before planning the 2008 diamond drilling campaign late last year.  The 2007 diamond drilling also intersected “new” gold bearing structures between Zone 4 and the “Sulphide” zone which are located about 140 meters apart.  The regional “set-up” of the McKenzie Break property certainly offers numerous similarities to the better known world class “Sigma – Lamaque” gold deposits.

Results are being compiled from the November-December 2008, 4000 linear meters (15 holes) surface diamond drilling program and will be released shortly. A detailed evaluation and review is being completed by the Joint Venture partners of all diamond drilling (9,959.4 linear metres)  by Britannica and all previous diamond drilling by Western Quebec and Wesdome during the period of 1994 to 2006.

The Joint-Venture partners are currently reviewing the feasibility of re-activating the underground bulk sampling program previously planned in 2006 (Wesdome Gold Mines).  Gold bearing zones are being projected to surface  and will offer the possibility of  further detailed mapping  & sampling in order to evaluate the “nugget effect”  present and created by much visible gold (coarse grained and fine grained) noticed within the drill core by Britannica and all previous operators.

Britannica granted Northern Star Mining Corp. (see news release February 23, 2009) an option to acquire an undivided 60% interest in the McKenzie Break property. Northern Star Mining Corp. is funding the first $1,500,000 in exploration expenses on behalf of the joint venture and thereafter all exploration costs shall be borne by the parties in proportion to their relative interests.

Historical resource estimates have been completed in the past (Placer Dome 1991, Western Quebec Mines 1994) and were discussed in a recently completed 43-101 compliant technical report (see BRR news release August 20, 2007) filed on SEDAR (www.sedar.com).

Tundra Gold, Placer Dome Canada, Western Quebec Mines Inc. and Wesdome Gold Mines previously explored the McKenzie Break property.  At least five known, flat-lying gold zones have been identified (see BRR news release January 30, 2007).  One of these structures, the No 4 Zone, was partly drilled at 30-metre centres to a 120-metre depth displaying good continuity of gold values (usually above average gold grade for the region). The Companies believe minimal additional work would be required to expand these gold bearing structures, at depth.

The diamond drilling and exploration programs were carried out under the direct supervision of C.P. Larouche, Ing., a qualified person for the purposes of National Instrument 43-101.  The company has maintained strict standards for QA (quality assurance) and QC (quality control), by keeping under lock all drill cores, rejects and pulps for further testing. Samples were sent to ALS Chemex labs in Val d’Or, Quebec.

The information contained in this news release has been compiled, reviewed and verified by Eugene Gauthier, Geol, Ing (OIQ), a qualified person to the Company. This news release may contain certain forward-looking statements. These statements may involve a number of known risks and uncertainties, typical to mineral exploration and development companies, and other factors that may cause the actual results, level of activities and performance to be materially different from Company’s expectation and projection.
