The Bluebird project, consists of 42 claims comprising approximately 1,440 hectares located immediately adjacent to the northern boundary of Cambior's Doyon gold mine property.
The Doyon gold mine has been in operation for over 20 years and produced over 210,000 ounces of gold in 2003. Current proven and probable reserves at the Doyon mine represent 1.4 million ounces (reference: Cambior website).
The Bluebird project is located in La Pause township along the Destor-Porcupine fault, a regional structure extending from Agnico-Eagle's LaRonde mine west to Timmins, Ont. The Destor-Porcupine structure is adjacent to a number of past-producing gold mines including the Hollinger, Pamour and Dome mines.
The property has been largely unexplored and is underlain by a sequence of volcanics and interbedded sediments, all intruded by masses of intrusive albite porphyries.
